According to an independent observer, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was hosting its second online power show on Saturday in advance of the Election 2024 when social media networks in the country went down.
Social media down in Pakistan: Independent watchdog Netblocks attested to “national-scale” disruptions to Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, and other platforms.
Users complaining about sluggish or nonexistent access to social media sites including X—formerly known as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube—started the outage at roughly 6:40 p.m.
Confusion and annoyance among the populace are the result of the government’s silence over the disruption.
The observer noted in a post on X that “the incident comes as Imran Khan’s political party, PTI, launches its second virtual gathering.”
It is important to note that the PTI has stated that it will have its second virtual jalsa online this Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
The organizers scheduled to stream the power show on Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, and X.
