PTI to Sit on Opposition Benches in AJK Legislative Assembly Following Khawaja Farooq’s Nomination as Opposition Leader
PTI takes opposition benches in AJK: In response to Khawaja Farooq’s nomination as leader of the opposition, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday opted to sit on the opposition benches in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly.
Senior leaders of PTI were present for the crucial decision-making meeting, which was held on Monday and presided over by PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Additionally, it was planned to punish severely any party members who disobeyed party rules.
A thorough discussion of the situation that has arisen since the election of the new AJK Prime Minister was held at the meeting. On this occasion, the PTI leadership chose to have its members sit on the opposition benches in the AJK Legislative Assembly, and Khawaja Farooq was chosen to be the leader of the opposition.
Only the members of the Legislative Assembly who attend the PTI parliamentary party meeting would be deemed to be a part of PTI, according to Khawaja Farooq, who will call the meeting right away. It was determined that only the PTI members occupying opposition seats and led by Khawaja Farooq would be permitted to do so, and that any who violated party rules would face expulsion from the party.
It was resolved at the meeting that Abdul Qayyum Niazi, the former prime minister of the AJK who now serves as the president of the PTI AJP, would shortly finish the party organisation process in the AJK. The process of choosing the candidates at the constituency level would be finished when the Legislative Assembly members who broke party discipline were expelled.
