KARACHI: Significantly, the People’s Bus Service in Karachi is planning to add 30 more buses to its fleet, which will ease commuters’ burdens in the city.
People’s Bus Service fleet: Caretaker Chief Minister, Justice (R) Maqbool Baqir, intervened to compel the Accountant General of Sindh to disburse cash for the new buses, prompting the action.
The Chief Minister of Sindh has highlighted that the transport department is now responsible for settling the customs duties upon the release of cash. The CM instructed the transport department to ensure timely payments to expedite the release of the buses from the port within a week.
Additionally, CM Baqir emphasized the urgency of swiftly introducing the newly ordered buses from China onto Karachi’s roadways, stressing the critical nature of the situation. His statement emphasized the urgency: “We need to promptly deploy the buses ordered from China onto the roads.”
Justice (R) Baqir also disclosed intentions to work with the federal government to get the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) to approve the BRT Red Line Corridor.
However, The introduction of these buses represents a step in the right direction for Karachi’s public transportation system.
