Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi and his wife, Ansha Afridi, welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Ali Yar, on Saturday. The news came as Shaheen was participating in the ongoing two-Test series against Bangladesh.
The cricketer received heartfelt congratulations from his teammates and fans on social media following the birth of his son. This happy occasion also marks a special milestone for Ansha’s father, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, who has now become a grandfather.
The 24-year-old pacer is currently in Rawalpindi for the Test series but is set to fly to Karachi on Sunday night after the conclusion of the first Test to join his wife and newborn. Shaheen will return to his team before the second Test, scheduled to begin on August 30.
Shaheen and Ansha were married in February 2023, with their nikkah ceremony taking place at a local mosque in Karachi, attended by close family members. The couple later held their wedding celebration in September 2023 at a venue in Karachi, followed by a Valima reception in Islamabad.
The wedding festivities were graced by several national team players and former cricketers, adding a touch of cricketing charm to the event. Among the notable attendees were Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, Imam-ul-Haq, and Haris Rauf, who all extended their best wishes to the couple. The celebrations also saw the presence of other cricket stars, including Naseem Shah, Fakhar Zaman, and Mohammad Rizwan, who joined in the festivities with their warm congratulations.
