In response to recent terror attacks in Balochistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared on Tuesday that there would be no dialogue or leniency towards terrorists. Addressing a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, the prime minister emphasized the need to eradicate terrorism and pledged full support and resources to the armed forces to achieve this goal.
“Negotiations are open only for those who acknowledge Pakistan’s constitution and flag, but there is no place for terrorists,” he asserted.
The prime minister vowed that the terrorists’ malicious plans would fail, and they would be completely eliminated, regardless of the challenges.
Over the past few weeks, particularly between Sunday night and Monday, Balochistan has witnessed a series of violent attacks targeting civilians, police, and security forces. In the Rarasham area of Musakhel district, at least 23 passengers were killed after being forcibly removed from buses and trucks. In a separate incident, 10 people, including police and Balochistan Levies personnel, were martyred in a gun attack in Kalat.
Expressing regret over these tragic events, PM Shehbaz noted that more than 50 civilians and security personnel had lost their lives in recent terrorist incidents. He pointed out that innocent people were also killed in Dera Ismail Khan and Karak, blaming Khawarij terrorists operating from across the Afghan border.
The prime minister condemned the attacks in Balochistan, stating that the terrorists aimed to disrupt Pakistan’s development by targeting the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other projects. “The terrorists seek to create division between Pakistan and China and sow chaos within the country,” he said.
Announcing plans to visit Balochistan soon to assess the situation, PM Shehbaz urged the nation to recognize its enemies and unite to defeat them, dismissing the terrorists’ belief that they could spread fear by killing innocent people.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, during a press conference with Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, emphasized that no large-scale operation was needed to enforce the state’s authority, stating that “even an SHO alone is enough for these terrorists.” He stressed the importance of targeting those supporting these acts of violence.
The press conference followed a special meeting on law and order held at CM House, attended by senior officials, including the chief secretary and Inspector General Police (IGP). The participants reviewed the security situation and received a briefing on the recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan.
Naqvi declared that the recent acts of terrorism in Balochistan were intolerable and assured that those behind these incidents would soon receive a strong response. He also mentioned that the country’s leadership, including PM Shehbaz, is deeply concerned about the security situation in the province.
CM Bugti added that he had engaged in a thorough discussion with the interior minister regarding the law and order situation and confirmed that efforts to track down the terrorists were ongoing.
