Amid a surge in terrorist activities, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pakistan’s senior military commanders convened on Tuesday to assess the threats posed by hostile forces, vowing to maintain the hard-won gains against terrorism. This commitment was made during the Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) held at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, chaired by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, as per the military’s media wing.
The conference reviewed the challenges posed by external and internal adversaries, including malicious actors, subversive proxies, and their facilitators, particularly in the volatile regions of Balochistan and KP. The commanders discussed a range of measures aimed at neutralizing these threats, with a firm resolve that the Pakistan Army, supported by the nation’s populace, would not allow the progress made against terrorism to be undone.
Following a deadly insurgent attack in Balochistan that resulted in the deaths of over 50 people on August 26, Pakistan’s armed forces launched intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in the province. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), these operations led to the elimination of five insurgents and the wounding of three others. The military vowed that operations would continue until all those responsible for these heinous acts, including their facilitators and abettors, are brought to justice.
In addition, security forces neutralized at least 12 terrorists in ongoing IBOs in KP’s Tirah Valley. The operations in Tirah Valley, Khyber District, which began on August 20, 2024, targeted the presence of Khwarij militants, according to an ISPR statement.
During the meeting, the military leadership reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to discipline, professionalism, and integrity. The commanders emphasized the importance of the Army’s strict accountability system, which ensures that these values are upheld without exception, reinforcing the institution’s integrity and ensuring that no one is above the law.
The COAS stressed the necessity of a strong and effective legal framework and reiterated that the Pakistan Army would continue to provide full support to the government, administrative bodies, and law enforcement agencies in taking swift and lawful action against terrorists, anarchists, and criminal networks.
The forum also expressed satisfaction with the ongoing efforts to combat illegal operations linked to terrorist networks and highlighted the critical importance of securing national cyberspace through stringent cybersecurity measures.
In a show of solidarity, the commanders expressed support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir, condemning the ongoing human rights violations there. They also strongly condemned the continued violence and genocide against Palestinians by Israel.
Finally, the forum expressed confidence in the operational readiness and preparedness of the Pakistan Army, reaffirming the commitment to maintaining professional excellence, as reported by the ISPR.
