Jennifer Lopez has reportedly filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, whom she married in 2022. According to legal documents, Lopez cited April 2024 as the date of their separation.
TMZ reports that Lopez filed the documents on Tuesday in L.A. County Superior Court without the assistance of a lawyer, opting to represent herself, also known as filing “pro per.” The documents also reveal that Lopez and Affleck did not have a prenuptial agreement, meaning any income earned during their two-year marriage is considered community property.
The report also notes that Lopez is not seeking spousal support and has requested that the judge deny any spousal support for Affleck as well.
This news comes just months after Lopez spoke fondly of Affleck, referring to him as her “forever” partner. In an interview with Zane Lowe, she expressed her feelings ahead of her new album, This is Me…Now, saying, “We captured me at this moment in time when I was reunited with the love of my life and we decided we were going to be together forever.” She also reflected on the message of her previous album, This Is Me…Then, emphasizing that it celebrated the existence of “real love.”
