Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo made an extraordinary debut on YouTube with his channel “UR — Cristiano,” breaking records and earning a spot in the Guinness World Records (GWR).
Ronaldo launched his YouTube channel on August 21, and it has rapidly gained subscribers since. The GWR has now recognized the 39-year-old Al Nassr star’s channel as the one with the most subscribers gained within 24 hours.
Earlier this week, the organization announced on its website that Ronaldo’s “domination of social media has continued,” with his YouTube channel amassing 19,729,827 subscribers in a single day. This impressive number was exclusively confirmed to Guinness World Records, according to VN Express.
WikiTubia, a site focused on YouTube records, reported that Ronaldo’s channel reached 100,000 subscribers in just 22 minutes, one million subscribers in 47 minutes, and 10 million subscribers in 11 hours and 31 minutes. Astonishingly, the channel has gathered 50 million subscribers within just one week.
This isn’t the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s first appearance in the GWR. Ronaldo is already recognized as the most followed person on Instagram, with 637 million followers, and was the first to reach 500 million followers on the platform in November 2022. Additionally, he has 170 million followers on Facebook and 112 million on X (formerly Twitter).
In football, Ronaldo set a Guinness World Record in 2021 for “most goals scored by a male player in international football,” with 111 goals. His record-breaking achievements also include:
- First player to score 100 goals in the UEFA Champions League
- Most appearances in the UEFA Champions League with 183
- Most hat-tricks in the UEFA Champions League with eight
- Most goals in the Euros with 14
- First male player to score in five different World Cups
- Longest gap between appearances in the Premier League with 12 years and 118 days
Meanwhile, as he continues to demonstrate his exceptional skills on the football field, Ronaldo recently scored a remarkable goal during Al-Nassr’s league match, bringing him closer to his 900th career goal.
