The Christian community in Pakistan celebrates Christmas on Monday, or today, with the customary fervour and passion that it shares with the rest of the globe.
Christians celebrate Christmas: Special events in honor of the festival will take place in churches across Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, and Peshawar, among other cities.
In addition to wishing the Christian community a happy Christmas, acting prime minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar stated that Pakistan should make a commitment to become a model of religious tolerance and interfaith cooperation on this day.
In a Christmas message, he stated, “I, along with the entire nation, wish our Christian brothers and sisters a very happy Christmas. The Christian community is enjoying Christmas in Pakistan and around the world. Christmas is a time for sacrifice, love, fraternity, and patience.
He went on to say that these principles were essential to setting a civilization on the path of progress.
According to the PM, Hazrat Essa (AS), the Prophet of Allah, brought the message of God to all people and alleviated their suffering.
He noted that a wave of religious intolerance had put human society in a difficult position on a global scale in recent years.
We must propagate Hazrat Essa’s teachings to create a world cradle of peace and adhere to his message of brotherhood and religious tolerance in order to revers this destructive trend. We can eradicate hatred from the globe forever in this way,” he said.
He stated that the white color of Pakistan’s green flag represents the nation’s minorities, especially the Christian community, proudly represented by its members in all spheres of life, including the military, the courts, the arts, sports, and education.
“Prime Minister’s Commitment to Religious Freedom and Festive Celebrations: Christmas in Pakistan”
According to the prime minister, the Christian community gave their life to uphold the nation’s integrity and togetherness as well as to build its basis.
He said that every Pakistani citizen was granted equal rights, complete freedom of worship, and the ability to observe religious holidays and rituals. He also said that every Quaid of Pakistan guaranteed complete religious freedom and that minorities in Pakistan received special protection under the country’s constitution.
Stars and glittering lights have been used to embellish residential colonies. On Christmas Eve, stores bustling with last-minute shoppers put wreaths outside.
The government of every province in the nation has given Christians leaves of absence and advance salaries so they can participate in religious celebrations in happiness and peace. Authorities have implemented security measures to safeguard Christian sacred sites. Additionally, nearly all churches have adorned Christmas trees and colorful lights for the festive season.
To ensure that this is not another unfortunate tragedy, the government has put extensive security measures in place.
Christmas, a religious and cultural event celebrated by billions of Christians worldwide on December 25, is an annual festival honouring the birth of Jesus Christ. Many nations observe Christmas Day as a public holiday.
Gift-giving, finishing an Advent calendar or wreath, carolling, watching Christmas movies, going to a Nativity play, exchanging Christmas cards, going to church, having a special meal and putting up various Christmas decorations—such as trees, lights, nativity scenes, garlands, wreaths, mistletoe and holly—are all popular holiday customs.
