For the week ending November 8, 2023, the Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the Combined Group increased by 0.73 percent from week to week.
Weekly inflation in Pakistan: When compared to the same period in the previous year, the SPI increased by a significant 29.86 percent year over year.
The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) disclosed data showing that on November 2, 2023, the composite index was 281.12 instead of 279.08, indicating a rise.
On November 10, 2022, however, the index was reported at 216.48, one year earlier.
Of the fifty-one items, twenty saw price increases, eight saw price decreases, and twenty saw price stability.
Prices for tomatoes (15.43 percent), potatoes (4.47 percent), wheat flour (2.36 percent), garlic (2.16 percent), and salt powder (1.82% percent) all saw notable price rises.
The prices of Gur (2.43 percent), vegetable ghee 1 kg (0.36 percent), rice Irri 6/9 (0.34 percent), vegetable ghee 2.5 KG (0.25 percent), and rice basmati broken (0.13 percent) on the other hand, showed notable declines.
All quantiles showed an increase in the weekly SPI percentage change across income levels, ranging from 0.59 percent to 1.05 percent.
The weekly increase for the lowest-income group was 1.05 percent, while the highest-income group saw an increase of 0.59 percent.
The examination of SPI variations on an annual basis for various income brackets showed increases between 28.51 and 30.23 percent.
The lowest income group had an increase in their yearly SPI of 28.51 percent, while the highest income group saw an increase of 29.88 percent.
