LAHORE: Sources told on Monday that Umar Gul will probably take over as bowling coach for the Pakistani side, replacing Morne Morkel, who had signed a six-month deal.
Umar Gul replace Morkel as coach: The men’s team’s bowling coach, Morkel, has quit, according to confirmation from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). In June of this year, the former fast bowler from South Africa joined the Pakistani team.
According to the sources, former pacer Gul, who has previously held the position, is anticipated to resume his duties as the team’s bowling coach.
“So yet, the PCB has not contacted me. But I shall consider it an honour to collaborate with the Pakistani squad once more,” Gul remarked.
The event follows the nation’s underwhelming performance in the present ICC World Cup 2023.
Further, Morkel was the national team’s coach throughout the two-game Test series that the Green Shirts won 2-0 against Sri Lanka and the one-day international (ODI) series that Pakistan won handily against Afghanistan. Additionally, he served as the Asia Cup and World Cup team’s coach.
