BAGH: Voting is currently taking place for the by-election for the LA-15 Bagh-2 seat in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
Bagh by-election: Voting began at 8am and will go on uninterrupted until 5pm.
The AJK Election Commission has made all necessary preparations to ensure a free, fair, and transparent election.
Following the ex-prime minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas’ disqualification by the AJK High Court in a case involving contempt of court, the seat became vacant.
Anticipations suggest that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will engage in a competitive race.
In today’s (Thursday) by-election, at least 101,186 voters, including 53,108 men and 48,038 women, will cast ballots.
The constituency has at least 189 polling places, with 29 designated as sensitive and 20 designated as highly sensitive.
For the day of the by-election, the administration has sent out around 2,578 police officers and 600 Rangers and FC personnel to keep the peace.
