General (ret.) Pervez Musharraf, a former president and head of the army, will be laid to rest in Karachi on Tuesday following his funeral prayers, which will take place at the Polo Ground of the Malir Cantonment.
After Zuhr, the funeral prayers will be recited at 1:45.
After numerous flight delays throughout the day, Musharraf’s mortal remains were returned to Pakistan from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Friday night by a special plane.
The body was given a ghusl (traditional washing and shrouding of the deceased prior of burial) in Sonapur, Dubai, where he passed away at the age of 79, before being airlifted to Karachi.
The widow and children of the former army chief traveled to Pakistan with the remains to perform the last rites. The last rites were performed in honor of the deceased.
The aircraft landed and was parked close to the airport’s previous terminal. After being transported from the old terminal under strict protection, the body and the offended family arrived at their destination.
On Sunday, the grieving family formally requested permission to move the body from Pakistan’s consulate in Dubai.
While his father was buried in Karachi, the former president’s mother was interred in Dubai.
On Sunday, Musharraf passed away. He had long been receiving amyloidosis treatment at the American Hospital in Dubai.
However, Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and other politicians have prayed for the former president’s pardon. Since 2016, the former president had not visited the nation.
