Saad Rizvi, the leader of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), stated on Monday that a statewide strike against an increase in the price of petroleum products would take place on February 27.
The TLP issued the administration a 72-hour deadline last week to stop raising the price of petroleum goods in accordance with IMF instructions.
People have been urged to embrace the TLP’s plea to end the crisis and save the future of Saad Rizvi.
Saad Rizvi and his deputy Pir Syed Zaheer-ul-Hassan said in a video message that they had given the government a deadline to reverse their decision but that it had not listened. They urged people to record their protests against the heinous inflation and increase in the price of petroleum items and announced that TLP would observe a nationwide total shutter down strike.
In an earlier move on February 16 to release the $1.1 billion IMF loan tranche, the government raised the price of gasoline by Rs22.20 per liter.
According to the announcement made by the Finance Division, the cost of gasoline has increased from Rs249.80 per liter to Rs272.00 per liter. Furthermore, the announcement stated that the increase in fuel prices was due to the rise in global crude oil prices.
Also, the cost of kerosene oil increased by Rs12.30 to Rs202.73 per litre, the cost of light diesel by Rs9.68 to Rs196.68 per litre, and the cost of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs17.20 to Rs280.00 per litre.
