PSL 8 matches likely shifted to Karachi: Following a rumored financial disagreement with the interim Punjab administration, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to relocate the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) remaining matches to Karachi.
The division of tournament security expenses is the subject of contention. According to reports, the Punjabi province government is asking for Rs450 million for games taking place or scheduled to take place in Multan, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.
The cricket board agreed to pay Rs. 50 million to the former administration before it was overthrown in January, but now they are hesitant to do so.
The PCB is also willing to spend Rs. 50 million for catering in Punjab, but it is hesitant to pay for security because it sees that as the province’s job.
During Friday’s emergency meeting, the head of the PCB Management Committee, Najam Sethi, and the PSL franchise owners decided to stop making any further payments to the provincial government.
In addition, they imposed a 24-hour deadline on the interim administration to change their decision; otherwise, they threatened to relocate the matches to Karachi.
Karachi emerges as the obvious choice because the Sindh government just demands compensation for catering to security personnel and does not ask the PCB to contribute to security expenditures. It is estimated to cost roughly Rs. 30 million.
The last game in Karachi was set for February 26. According to the initial PSL schedule, Lahore and Rawalpindi would host the remaining eight PSL games this season.
This season, Rawalpindi will host 11 PSL 8 games, while Lahore will play host to the tournament’s crucial semifinals and championship games at Gaddafi Stadium.
March 19 will see the conclusion of the match.
