Due to strikes at flour mills, the situation with flour in Karachi is getting worse as the product is vanishing from the market.
Chaudhry Aamir, chairman of the Sindh Flour Mills Association, reported that the Sindh Food Department is making efforts to force the reopening of the 90 shuttered flour mills in Karachi.
Due to the “illegal” raids, the flour mills in Karachi are currently on indefinite strike.
The association’s spokeswoman released a statement on Thursday, stating that the government illegally sealed six flour mills in Karachi and Nawabshah the day before.
The group urged the government to supply affordable, uniform wheat and to restore the floor mills.
The owners will shut down all of Sindh’s wheat mills until their demands are grant.
