Syed Murad Ali Shah, chief minister of Sindh, on Saturday removed the prohibition against pillion riding on New Year’s eve.
CM Murad expressed his hope that the young would respect the decision to lift the pillion riding ban.
Young people should celebrate the New Year “with dignity and honour,” he hoped.
He also expressed the hope that they wouldn’t engage in one-wheeling or display any weapons. The chief minister emphasised the value of being responsible and treating one’s own family and families of others with respect.
He wished for the coming year to bring recovery for flood victims, greater democracy throughout the nation, and stronger economy.
Plan for New Year’s Eve security
It was revealed the day before that the police had given permission for thousands to congregate at Karachi’s Sea View Beach to ring in the New Year at midnight.
According to DIG South Irfan Baloch, “more than 2,500 police officers and jawans would execute security responsibilities surrounding Sea View.”
From 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., he said, mounted police and more than 150 female constables will also be on patrol in and around Sea View.
According to DIG Baloch, people should observe the New Year within the bounds of the law and that “hooliganism will not be condoned at any cost.”
He declared that aerial firing would not be condoned and that individuals. And he also said that Who did so would face harsh penalties, including with possible charges of attempted murder.
Similar to drifting in cars, one-wheeling on bikes is not permitted. DIG Baloch added, “Celebrate decently and nobody will stop you.”
