Rakhi Sawant arrest: MUMBAI – Rakhi, a model, and performer in Bollywood, has been held in connection with an FIR against actor Sherlyn Chopra filed against her. The Mumbai police have arrested her.
Rakhi scheduled to introduce her dancing academy, which she co-owns with her husband Adil Durrani, on January 19 according to reports. She was, however, taken into custody by Amboli police on the same day. The reason for her arrest is not specified in the reports.
Sherlyn Chopra tweeted about Rakhi’s arrest letting everyone know that “Amboli Police has arrested Rakhi Sawant about FIR 883/2022.” Yesterday, the Mumbai session court rejected Rakhi Sawant’s ABA 1870/2022. The police arrested Rakhi Sawant in relation to a defamation case filed by her.
Rakhi had criticized Sherlyn Chopra for her remarks towards #MeToo accuser Sajid Khan last year. Sherlyn claimed that Salman Khan was defending the director in a media interview after recording her testimony against Sajid Khan on October 29. Rakhi, however, criticized Sherlyn for her remarks while standing up for Sajid. Rakhi claimed in a statement to the media that the police were aware of which complaints were valid and which were not. Later, Sherlyn accused Rakhi of defamation and filed a case.
