The leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has charged retired Gen. Qamar Javed of protecting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. As there are convictions in corruption charges totaling Rs. 16 billion and Rs. 8 billion that were filed with the FIA and NAB.
Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), bemoaned Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday once more, accusing him of appointing the heads of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) of his own choosing to clear himself of two corruption cases worth Rs. 18 billion and Rs. 8 billion, respectively.
According to Imran Khan, this is how the nation is morphing into a banana republic. He further disclosed that Shehbaz Sharif’s defence in the Rs. 8 billion money laundering case and the Rs. 16 billion case filed by the FIA was provided by General Retired Qamar Javed Bajwa.
The PTI Chief tweeted, “What future can a country have when crooks are imposed as its rulers? When SS was ready to be found guilty by the NAB for Rs 8 billion in money laundering and the FIA for another Rs 16 billion in corruption, Gen. Bajwa, who kept getting the NAB cases postponed, saved him. He was on trial at the time.
Moreover, he tweeted, “made PM. Since then, he has chosen the leaders of the organisations looking into his cases, first the FIA and most recently the NAB simply to get his name permanently cleared in Rs 16 bn corruption & Rs 8 bn money laundering cases against him. This is how a country becomes a banana republic,”.
Response of Imran Khan
His outspoken response came the day after he made a speech in which he stated that he was also willing to engage in negotiations for the benefit of the nation and that he disliked seeking personal vengeance. For the first time, he was somewhat receptive to discussion in addition to declaring that the Punjab general election campaign will begin the following week.
The police arrived at Zaman Park earlier in the day to give the PTI Chief notice that he must appear in court in Islamabad on March 7.
However according to the most recent reports, there was a sizable group of PTI supporters outside Imran Khan’s home as the anti-riot force was getting ready to scatter the employees.
