According to sources cited on Wednesday in LAHORE, former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has submitted his resignation from the party’s office.
Shahid Khaqan has reportedly sent his resignation as the senior vice president of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to the party’s president. The court declared Nawaz Sharif ineligible due to the Panama Papers scandal and the party appointed Khaqan, a top leader, as the prime minister.
According to sources, Abbasi expressed displeasure towards the party leadership’s decision. The party leadership had chosen to make Maryam Nawaz the senior vice president and top organizer of the ruling party, PML-N. Abbasi was not satisfied with this choice.
According to insiders, “Shahid Khaqan had also severe disagreements with the party’s policies for a long time.”
The PDM overthrew Imran Khan’s administration through a motion of no confidence. Abbasi declined to accept a ministry or other job in the Shehbaz Sharif government. This was a result of the overthrow of Imran Khan’s administration.
He was dissatisfied with the PML-treatment N’s of the former finance minister, Miftah Ismail, insiders claim.
According to PML-N sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has received a resignation letter. He also serves as the PML-N President. However, he has not yet accepted the resignation.
