PCB: Former Pakistan Test wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal was appointed as one of three selection committee members of the Pakistan men’s national just days after being appointed head of the junior team selection committee.
The selection committee will be led by Haroon Rasheed, and will include Kamran, his former teammates Mohammad Sami and Yasir Hameed, according to the Pakistan Cricket Board’s announcement on Wednesday.
The other junior team selection committee members were also announced by the PCB. Along with the lesser-known Shoaib Khan and former Pakistani bowlers Arshad Khan and Shahid Nazir, the name of former Test off spinner Tauseef Ahmed was prominent.
However, Among those selected to complete the national senior and junior teams, Kamran, 41, has most Test appearances (53) played. The trio will be seen for the first time in a role as selectors. Former bowler Sami played 36 Tests, while Yasir appeared in 25 Tests.
Tauseef, who represented Pakistan in 34 Test matches, is a former national selection committee member. Tauseef will now focus on the youth of the nation.
Arshad and pacer Shahid both played in 15 Tests for Pakistan, whereas Shoaib never made an appearance.
Additionally, The former hitter only played in four Twenty20 International games for Pakistan, which took place in a 2008 competition among four nations held in Canada.
However, He was substituted for off-spinner Saeed Ajmal, causing concern about his selection. This led to the departure of chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed “Sallu.” Sallu claimed that the PCB had interfered in the selection process.
