Prominent Pakistani cricketer Abdul Razzaq became entangled in a major scandal when he disparaged Indian actress Aishwarya Rai in the course of criticising Babar Azam’s team’s performance in the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
Razzaq apology Aishwarya: Social media users were quick to criticise the move, and a number of cricket players on both sides of the border joined the chorus of outrage.
The former cricket player apologised in reaction to the growing uproar, calling his remarks about Aishwarya Rai a simple “slip of the tongue.”
Razzaq took to social media to publicly apologise for the incident. We discussed coaching for cricket and our goals yesterday. I said Aishwarya Rai’s name by accident due to a slip of the tongue. I sincerely apologise to her. He added in a video message, “I didn’t mean to offend anyone.
At a press conference that included people like Shahid Afridi, Umar Gul, and Razzaq, Razzaq said, “I’m talking about the PCB’s intentions here.” Knowing that my captain, Younis Khan, had the best of intentions when we played gave me the confidence to play for Pakistani cricket with Allah’s assistance.
“I think we don’t really aim to improve and nurture players,” he continued. It’s like expecting me to wed Aishwarya Rai in order to have a child that is ethically pure. Correcting your intentions is therefore the first step.
However, in a private channel interview, Shahid Afridi also criticised Razzaq’s remarks and stated, “I will ask him to make a public apology.”
Many former cricket players have turned to commentary after Pakistan’s World Cup performance, offering their critical viewpoints on social media and other TV stations. Some have garnered recognition for their insightful analyses, while others have made news for their divisive remarks.
