LAHORE: The Punjab administration, led by Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, has approved the construction of a cutting-edge resort linked to the Kartarpur Corridor in a calculated attempt to boost religious tourism.
resort at Kartarpur Corridor: The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) Darshan Resort is an ambitious project that aims to provide a 50-room hotel to accommodate tourists visiting the sacred Kartarpur Corridor.
In a key meeting in Lahore, Caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi stressed the importance of providing Sikh pilgrims with full facilities not only at the Kartarpur site but also in Eminabad, Farooqabad, and Nankana Sahib. He reaffirmed the government’s warm welcome to Sikh pilgrims, highlighting its dedication to promoting religious travel.
Naqvi has taken the initiative to request a comprehensive plan, aiming to demonstrate the government’s commitment to completing the Kartarpur Darshan Resort project.
However, The Kartarpur Corridor, a religious and visa-free border crossing, connects the historic Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan with India’s Gurudwara Dera Baba Nanak in the Gurdaspur area of Punjab. The corridor was first proposed as part of the Delhi-Lahore Bus diplomacy in 1999 by Nawaz Sharif and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the prime ministers at the time. The completion of the project occurred successfully on November 12, 2019, coinciding with the 550th anniversary of Guru Nanak’s birth.
