ISLAMABAD: The capital police reported that during the current year, they have detained 19,716 suspects suspected of committing various crimes and have recovered valuables worth Rs1.38 billion from their hands (2022).
The city police caught 19,716 perpetrators of various crimes, including murder, dacoity, and other horrific crimes, according to the annual report of the capital police operations section. They also found looted jewellery, cash, firearms, and drugs.
The federal capital’s police also dismantled the renowned Bilal Sabit gang, which throughout the year was a source of terror both there and in the other provinces.
More than 500 murders, attempted murders, home invasion robberies, and other horrible acts involved the group.
The operation division police reportedly detained 1,450 suspects, including 656 members of 234 gangs involved in robbery and dacoity, and retrieved assets worth Rs219 million from their hands, including 34 cars and 73 motorcycles.
A total of Rs298.94 million was recovered from the possession of 1,610 offenders, including 437 members of 167 gangs that were involved in theft and street crimes. The police teams similarly filed 1,016 charges against car and bike thieves, detained 814 suspects, including 276 members of 113 gangs, and seized 281 cars and 646 bikes valued Rs402.2 million from their possession. Additionally, police teams detained 172 suspects and seized 165 damaged vehicles and nine motorcycles worth Rs459.8 million from their custody.
The capital police also located 43 cases of blind murder and detained 78 suspects in connection with them.
In addition, the municipal police filed 1,158 complaints against drug dealers, detained 1,209 suspects involved in drug dealing, and seized from their hands 652.9 kg of hashish, 333.6 kg of heroin, 11.5 kg of ice, 85 gramme of cocaine, 5.16 kg of opium, and 12,316 bottles of alcohol.
