Police attempt to arrest Imran Khan on Sunday after the Islamabad Sessions Court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for him in the Toshakhana case, according to ARY News.
On February 28, Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal issued a warrant for the PTI Chairman’s arrest.
Police say the former premier is eluding capture.
A police official from Islamabad tweeted that they have arrived in Lahore in order to detain the PTI chairman under court orders. After all formalities have been fulfilled, he declared that Khan will be taken into custody.
The superintendent of police had “gone into Imran’s room, but he was not there,” it said, adding that the PTI head was “avoiding” the arrest.
He also warned of legal action against those creating hurdles in the arrest of the former premier. “Imran will be shifted to Islamabad under police custody,” he said.
PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry on Sunday afternoon issued a summons to all party members to report to Zaman Park in Lahore in response to allegations that Imran Khan might be detained in the Toshakhana case.
Clearly stating that “any attempt to arrest Imran Khan will escalate the situation,” the former minister of communication tweeted.
Toshakhana Reference
Imran Khan, a former prime minister and the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, was disqualified by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the Toshakhana reference pursuant to Article 63(1). (p).
“According to Imran Khan’s account, he had acquired the gifts from Toshakhana paying 21.564 million rupees, but the Cabinet Division maintained that the items had a worth of 107.943 million,” the ECP stated in the written verdict.
He had around half the value of the governmental presents in his bank account. Imran Khan was required to disclose the cash and bank account information in his tax forms, but he did not, according to the ECP judgement.
Khan was disqualified under Article 63, 1(P), for making a false statement and declaration, according to the ECP, which also stated that he has been removed from his National Assembly seat.

According to provisions 167 and 173 of the constitution, the former premier was deemed to have engaged in corrupt acts, according to the judgement. However he will be subject to a criminal investigation for filing a fraudulent statement.
“His disqualification under Article 63, 1(P) has been for his current parliament membership”, the ECP said in its 36-page detailed judgment of the reference.
