On Sunday morning, PM Shehbaz Sharif travel arrived in Doha for a two-day visit to attend the 5th United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
Upon arriving in Doha, he tweeted, “Just reached Doha, Qatar on the invitation of my brother HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar to attend the 5th UN conference on LDCs.
The premier said he will “offer Pakistan’s views on the socio-economic concerns facing LDCs in Asia and Africa”.
He added that the geo-strategic disruption of the food and energy supply chains, as well as the effects of post-pandemic and climate change, had severely impacted LDCs.
The premier claimed that recent events had shown the vulnerability of underdeveloped nations.
However “LDCs will be better served by putting welfare at the centre of public policy,” Shehbaz stressed.

The Conference, which will take place from March 5–9, 2023, will also discuss ways to hasten sustainable development in Least Developed Countries and aid in their ascent to wealth.
At the conference, the leaders will decide to reaffirm the cooperation between LDCs and their development partners and mobilise more international assistance actions and measures in favour of LDCs.
Particularly the Prime Minister will meet with participating heads of state and government and heads of delegations in Doha on a one-on-one basis in order to discuss issues related to the Conference.
Finally According to the FO, Pakistan has taken the lead in UN forums to raise the collective voice of the Global South and advance sustainable development all over the world.
