RIYADH: On Friday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine held a meeting with Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul Haq Kakar.
PM Kakar meets Palestinian President: As part of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Extraordinary Summit, convened to discuss the dire circumstances in occupied Palestine resulting from the aggression of Israeli occupation forces in both Gaza and the West Bank, the meeting took place.
The Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s unflinching sympathy with the Palestinian people during the meeting.
He denounced the Israeli occupation troops’ indiscriminate use of force and their bombing of residential buildings, schools, hospitals, and refugee camps.
These activities have tragically claimed over 10,000 lives, and Israeli forces have forcibly relocated Palestinian families.
President Abbas praised Pakistan for its fundamental stance on the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and expressed gratitude for its solidarity during this difficult period.
Both presidents stressed how urgently an unconditional ceasefire, an end to the Gaza closure, and the smooth provision of essential medical and humanitarian relief to the impacted population are needed. They emphasised the need for international cooperation in order to stop Israel from committing such atrocities.
Both President Abbas and Prime Minister Kakar concurred that the timing of the OIC Extraordinary Summit was appropriate.
They made a strong call to action on the international community, especially the United Nations and its affiliated institutions, to respect the values of justice and humanity and put an end to the suffering of the Palestinian people.
Prime Minister Kakar emphasized Pakistan’s steadfast dedication to a just and lasting settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian problem.
This commitment is based on the two-state solution, which, as affirmed by multiple OIC resolutions, would result in the creation of a sovereign and viable Palestinian state with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital along borders that existed before 1967.
