PDM meeting today: The ruling coalition partners will convene in Lahore today under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss a plan of action for the ongoing political turmoil and Supreme Court issues.
The coalition parties will be briefed on the cases being handled by the Supreme Court at the meeting, which will take place at the PM’s mansion in Model Town, according to sources (SC).
The partnered parties announced that they would develop a plan to address both legal and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) concerns.
Quaid Nawaz Sharif of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would take part in the conversation from London, according to reports.
The crucial meeting takes place a day after the government’s appeal to assemble a full court in the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa election delay case was denied by a Supreme Court (SC) bench led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial.
The three-member panel rejected the government’s full court motion made by Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan in response to the PTI’s appeal against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) decision to delay voting.
A five-member bench was initially hearing the PTI’s appeal against the postponement of the Punjab elections by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
The bench dissolved for a second time when Justices Jamal Khan Mandokhail and Aminuddin Khan recused themselves recently.
However, PTI contested the election commission’s decision to change the date of the elections in Punjab and KP. Additionally, On behalf of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the speakers of the Punjab and KPK assemblies, Sibtain Khan and Mushtaq Ghani, have submitted a joint constitutional petition.
