ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Friday urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to act quickly to restore calm in the beleaguered enclave, expressing great concern over the situation of Gaza and the Palestinian people.
Pakistan urges UNSC restore peace in Gaza: During the weekly media briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that Pakistan condemned the ongoing killings by the Palestinians in Gaza. She stressed that the fourth Geneva Convention (GCIV), which protects civilians in regions of armed conflict, requires Israel, as an occupying power, to adhere to its provisions.
The spokeswoman went on to say that the acting prime minister denounced Israeli aggression in Gaza while in Tashkent for an ECO meeting. Baloch continued, “The prime minister emphasised the need to resolve the Palestinian issue by upholding UN resolutions.”
Kashmir Problem
While bringing up the Kashmir issue, the spokesperson stated that Pakistan will continue to offer moral and diplomatic assistance to the oppressed people of the valley and that India should respect Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
The FO called attention to the extrajudicial killings that occurred earlier this week of Kashmiris and asked that those guilty be held accountable.
With complete disregard for international law, Israel launched a ruthless aerial war against Gaza after the Palestinian resistance group Hamas raided Israel on October 7. They savagely destroyed hospitals, mosques, civilian homes, and other structures.
Israeli attacks have resulted in the deaths of at least 10,800 people, at least 40% of them were children, thus far.
