Following a change in their portfolios in November 2023, former Pakistan team director Mickey Arthur and former batting coach Andrew Puttick were sent to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore. Both men have since resigned from their roles, the cricket body announced.
Mickey Arthur resigns: Grant Bradburn, who led the national squad in the 2023 World Cup, also announced his resignation earlier this month.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released a statement saying, “All three individuals informed the PCB of their decision to leave their respective jobs by the end of January 2024.”
All parties involved reached an amicable agreement together. The PCB expressed gratitude for their services and wished them well in their future endeavours.
Earlier this year, Bradburn took on the role of head coach for the Pakistan national men’s team, while in April 2023, Arthur assumed the position of director of the men’s cricket team. Puttick, a former cricket player for South Africa, has been Pakistan’s batting coach since April 2023.
Prior to his most recent position, Arthur was the head coach of the Pakistan Men’s Cricket side from 2016 to 2019, a period in which the side won the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy and rose to the top of the ICC Test team rankings. Arthur has also coached Sri Lanka, Australia, and South Africa in international cricket.
The 57-year-old Bradburn, who had previously played 18 international matches for New Zealand between 1990 and 2001, was the men’s team fielding coach for Pakistan from 2018 to 2020 before assuming the position of Head of High-Performance Coaching at NCA through October 2021.
In May 2023, Pakistan became the top-ranked side in the ICC ODI rankings for the first time under his stint as head coach.
