Imran Khan, chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), made a statement that the Pakistan Army on Monday threatened to sue him over because it contained unfounded accusations.
ISPR reacts to Imran statement: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media arm of the Pakistani Army, claimed in a statement on Monday that PTI Chairman Imran Khan had made extremely careless and unfounded accusations against a serving senior military official without any supporting documentation.
These false and vicious accusations, according to the ISPR, are exceedingly sad, reprehensible, and unacceptable.
The targeting of military and intelligence agency professionals with accusations and sensationalised propaganda to advance political goals has been a recurring pattern over the past year, according to the ISPR.
“We request that the offending political figure use the legal system instead of making slanderous accusations. The institution reserves the right to pursue legal action in response to propaganda and remarks that are blatantly false and deceptive, the ISPR said.
