Pathaan, the hotly anticipated and divisive film starring Shah Rukh Khan, has been submitted for censoring.
Prasoon Joshi, the chairman of India’s Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), has urged the filmmakers to make a few adjustments to the movie and the songs.
“Pathaan,” a film directed by Siddharth Anand and supported by Yash Raj Films, became embroiled in a significant controversy following the release of its first song, Besharam Rung.
Many lawmakers, including Mr. Girish Gautam, the speaker of the State Legislative Assembly, and Narottam Mishra, the home minister of Madhya Pradesh, raised concerns about the costumes that Deepika and Shah Rukh were wearing.
Joshi issued a formal statement that included the following additional information to put everyone’s questions to rest: “‘Pathaan’ went through the proper and thorough examining process as per the CBFC norms. The committee has instructed the film’s creators to make the suggested modifications, including those to the songs, and submit the new cut before it is shown in theatres.
“CBFC is always committed to striking the correct balance between artistic expression and audience sensibility, and we think that we can always find solutions through meaningful communication between all stakeholders,” the organisation states.
“While the procedure is being properly followed and put into practise, I must once again emphasise how beautiful, intricate, and subtle our culture and faith are. And we need to be careful that it is not reduced to trivial matters that divert attention from the real and the truth. Additionally, as I previously stated, it is crucial to preserve the relationship of trust between creators and their audience, and creators should continue to strive to do so.
On January 25, “Pathaan,” starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, will be released.
