Imran Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has asked the populace to leave their houses today (Saturday) in support of the Constitution and Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial amid the current conflict between the judiciary and the executive branch.
Imran asks supporters to support judiciary: The former premier encouraged people to come out between 5 and 6 p.m. today to demonstrate their support for our Constitution and the CJP on Twitter.
The PTI chairman said that four simultaneous rallies would be held on Saturday night in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Peshawar. According to Imran, he would personally lead the Lahore protest (from Zaman Park to Lakshami Chowk).
He claimed that the nation is currently in a pivotal period of its history. “Pakistan is currently experiencing record unemployment and inflation, and a mafia is taking control. The current administration is terrified of losing in the elections.
Imran Khan accused the administration of taking deliberate actions to undermine the Supreme Court (SC) and the Constitution. “A mafia is spreading misinformation about the SC judges and CJP. I’m pleading with the people of the country to get out on Saturday night to support the CJP.
“I had done everything in my power to have elections before the new government was formed. Elections must be held 90 days following the dissolution of the legislature, according to the constitution. However, the caretaker government is unwilling to schedule elections notwithstanding the view of 15 Supreme Court (SC) judges.
Elections remain the only way out of the dilemma for the nation, according to PTI leader Imran Khan.
Enactment of Section 144 in Lahore
To show support for Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial, Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure has been implemented in Islamabad in advance of scheduled protests by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The Islamabad Capital Police has issued a notification prohibiting protests in the federal capital in this regard.
Section 144 prohibits both the carrying of firearms and gatherings of more than four individuals in one location for rallies and protests.
However, The spokeswoman for the capital police issued a statement threatening legal action against gatherings held without authorization. The police warned the citizens that “citizens may face difficulties due to tomorrow’s road closures” and suggested that they research alternate routes before leaving.
