Hasnain Bahadur Dreshak, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), resigns from his position as minister of livestock and dairy development following an altercation with Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi on Friday at the cabinet meeting.
According to sources, the provincial minister left the Punjab cabinet meeting after a contentious debate with CM Elahi.
The situation happened when several ministers in the session began speaking at once. At this point, CM Elahi urged the participants to uphold discipline and order. All of the ministers were told by the CM to speak one at a time, but the PTI leader persisted.
The minister became enraged when the CM interrupted him, left the meeting, and announced his resignation.
The PTI leader stated to Geo News today (Saturday) that he has submitted his letter of resigns to the CM.
In the 2018 general elections, Husnain was chosen to represent PP-294 Rajanpur in the provincial parliament.
On August 27, 2018, he was appointed to the provincial Punjab cabinet of the late chief minister Sardar Usman Buzdar without holding any ministerial positions. He was eventually appointed the Punjab’s minister for the development of livestock and dairy, though.
Absence of assemblies
The news broke hours before PTI Chairman Imran Khan was scheduled to announce the dissolution of today’s legislatures at a public event at Liberty Chowk in Lahore.
In a video message to his fans, Khan had stated that PTI lawmakers would return to the National Assembly. And will hold a demonstration in front of the speaker’s podium to put pressure on him to accept their resignations.
In advance of Khan’s Friday announcement of the date for the dissolution of the legislatures, CM Elahi also convened a significant gathering in Rawalpindi.
Yesterday evening, the chief minister travelled to Rawalpindi, where he attended a crucial meeting. He discussed the state of politics with party leaders after arriving back in Lahore late at night.
