DI KHAN: The Ministry of Energy has investigated new gas and condensate reserves from an exploratory well in the Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan) district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The energy ministry issued a statement stating that the discovery was made in conjunction with commercial partners.
The well was sunk to a depth of 3527 metres, and as a result of the drilling, prospective hydrocarbon bearing zones were discovered, revealing reserves of 32.8 barrels of water per day, 1840 barrels of condensate, and 39.12 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.
According to the announcement, the finding will help the country’s hydrocarbon reserves by increasing its base and reducing its dependency on imported oil and gas. It will also help to close the gap between energy demand and supply from domestic resources.
According to the statement, this is the 15th oil and gas discovery of the current year.
New oil and gas deposits were found in Sindh last week, and the Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) of the find in the Sanghar district.
On June 26 of this year, the Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) began the exploration of the oil and gas deposits.
