LAHORE: All of Punjab’s nine districts, six divisions, and Lahore will be under a total smog lockdown starting tomorrow, Sunday.
smog lockdown in Lahore: Lahore used to be the most polluted city in the world, but now it is ranked fourth. On Saturday, Lahore’s total Air Quality Index (AQI) was reported at 230.
With an AQI of 504, the neighbourhoods near Baidian Road in Lahore got the highest score.
The places in Lahore that are most polluted are Cantt Polo Ground, Jail Road, Mall Road, Kot Lakhpat, and DHA Phase 5.
Saturday saw all educational institutions in Lahore remain closed due to the smart fog shutdown.
In Lahore, markets and business centres might open later today (Saturday) after 3:00 PM.
On Sundays, however, all six divisions’ markets and commercial hubs—including Lahore—will be fully closed.
Cycling will be prohibited on Sundays from early in the morning until five o’clock in the evening along Lahore’s historic Mall Road. The district authority is taking these actions to stop the consequences of pollution.
Distribution of free masks
In Rawalpindi, the district administration is giving away 30,000 free masks to the city’s residents.
The conference to assess the pollution condition in the province was presided over by Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday. Lahore city continues to be the most polluted metropolis in the world.
It was resolved at the meeting that educational institutions will observe Friday and Saturday as holidays. Additionally, on Saturday, markets cannot open earlier than 3 p.m. Both restaurants and fitness centres will be subject to the rules.
