According to the White House, US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will attend a memorial service for former First Lady Rosalynn Carter in Georgia on Tuesday.
Biden and first lady attend Georgia service: Carter passed away earlier this week, not long after she and her husband, former President Jimmy Carter, moved into hospice care at their Plains, Georgia, home.
The Bidens will be present at a memorial service on Tuesday at Emory University’s Glen Memorial Church in Atlanta.
On Monday, Carter will lie in rest in the Atlanta foyer of the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum, allowing the public to visit the coffin and offer condolences.
Carter’s burial will take place at the family home in Plains after her funeral on Wednesday at the Maranatha Baptist Church.
“President Biden has instructed to fly US flags at half-staff until the burial of the Carters, recognized as the longest-married US presidential couple.” The Carters, who married in 1946 at the ages of 21 and 18, held this record.”
