Bheed Teaser: On March 3, the teaser for the upcoming movie Bheed, directed by Anubhav Sinha and starring Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar, and Pankaj Kapur, was made public. The film, which was shot in black and white, explores the plight of migrant workers in India amid the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in 2020.
The preview opens with some brutal images of thousands of people making their way home, some on foot and some perched atop trains. Manoj Bajpayee narrates the video which serves as a reminder of the 1947 Partition of India. The movie also discusses the societal division that developed in India during the 2020 lockdown.
Rao said on social media while distributing the movie’s teaser to his followers, “Uss waqt ki jab batwara desh mein nahi, samaaj mein hua tha, hum kahaani bata rahe hai. We are narrating a tale of the darkest epochs when the country was undivided, but the social order was. The movie #Bheed, which depicts this period, will release in theatres on March 24, 2023, in black and white.”
Rao will portray a police inspector in the movie, according to the first look images, while Pednekar will play a doctor. The sociopolitical drama was filmed all throughout India’s Lucknow.
In the movie Bheed, “Our darkest experiences in black and white,” are depicted. In a press release, Sinha discussed his movie and said, “The story of Bheed takes place during a period when everything for humanity was in danger. The main reason for using black and white for the film’s aesthetics was to emphasize how the social difference during India’s Lockdown and the experiences people had during the 1947 India Partition were startlingly comparable. The country’s drawing of boundaries abruptly altered the lives of people in this tale and erased their colors.
