Dhaka: Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz helped his team defeat India by five runs in their second one-day international on Wednesday in Mirpur, clinching a 2-0 series triumph with one game remaining. Miraz struck an unbeaten 100 from 83 balls and took two wickets.
India, who needed to score 272 runs in order to win, got off to a slow start, losing openers Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan early, but half-centuries by Shreyas Iyer (82) and Axar Patel (56) helped them turn things around.
However, India’s middle order broke down, and they finished on 266-9 after falling just short in their run-chase.
Bangladesh won by 5 runs and secured the series by 2-0.

After receiving a scan for a left thumb injury he got when he dropped Anamul Haque in the second over of Bangladesh’s innings, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma (51 not out) entered the batting order at number nine. He rode his luck to bring India close.
Playing through the agony, he smashed enormous sixes off Mahmudullah and Ebadot Hossain in his 28-ball innings, leaving India needing 20 runs from the final over and then 12 from the final two balls, but he was unable to help his team win. He was twice dropped.
Earlier, after choosing to bat first, Bangladesh, who also defeated India by one wicket in the first ODI, was in trouble at 69-6 after Washington Sundar (3-37) and Mohammed Siraj (2-73) shredded the top order before the hosts rallied.
As India slowed down, Mehidy and Mahmudullah (77) put on a 148-run partnership for the seventh wicket. The 25-year-old hit his century with the penultimate ball of the innings as Bangladesh amassed 271-7.
Before playing two Test matches, the teams play their final match at Chattogram on Saturday.
We fought hard till the end, but it was Bangladesh who won the 2nd ODI by 5 runs and clinch the series 2-0.
