LAHORE: Following a lacklustre World Cup 2023 campaign, Pakistani cricket team skipper Babar Azam arrived in Lahore from Dubai early on Monday morning.
Babar Azam lands in Lahore: Using a private aircraft, Babar Azam and a few PCB members, including the team manager, travelled from Dubai to Lahore. Strict security guards took the national team captain to his car. Supporters of the Pakistani team screamed slogans as they gathered at the airport.
As soon as they saw the skipper, the large crowd at the airport chanted “Pakistan Zindabad” and snapped photographs with him.
The Pakistani team, which won just four games and lost five, finished fifth in the major tournament and was unable to advance to the semifinals. South Africa, Australia, England, and South Africa all defeated the Green Shirts.
The Pakistani captain has come under fire for both his cautious batting strategy and leadership.
Further, Former cricket greats Babar Azam’s replacement as captain has been demanded. The batter’s detractors now include Basit Ali as a newcomer.
Because Babar Azam settles in, carries the innings, and gets out while attempting to play flashy strokes, Basit Ali feels that Azam is not a match-winner.
