Apple is set to unveil its latest line of iPhones on Monday, featuring new generative AI capabilities, as the tech giant aims to boost sales of its flagship product. The event, dubbed “Glowtime,” will take place at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, though the company has revealed few details about the launch.
The iPhone 16, expected to be revealed, will play a crucial role for Apple, which hopes the addition of AI features will attract buyers. With iPhone sales accounting for around 60% of the company’s revenue — $39 billion in the last quarter — the new model is key to maintaining its stronghold in the market.
According to Forrester analyst Dipanjan Chatterjee, the iPhone 16 is significant not for its design but for its new internal AI features, called “Apple Intelligence,” introduced earlier this year. These updates include AI-powered tools for image editing, translation, and creative messaging enhancements, though they don’t reach the level of ambitious AI developments seen from companies like OpenAI or Google.
Additionally, Apple’s digital assistant Siri is expected to receive an AI-powered upgrade, transforming into a dynamic light on the home screen and improving its overall functionality. Analysts like Carolina Milanesi of Creative Strategies believe Siri will be a focal point of the event. The upgraded Siri, integrated with custom chips in the iPhone 16, could significantly change how users interact with the device.
This announcement comes on the heels of Google’s recent release of AI-enhanced Pixel 9 smartphones, which challenge the iPhone’s dominance. With rivals like Google and Samsung showcasing AI-driven innovations, Apple is looking to redefine expectations and bring practical AI advancements to its customers.
